Face Paint FAQs
What kind of paint do you use?
I use water-based, non-toxic, and FDA-approved face paints. Some of the brands include Mehron, FAB, and Silly Farm. These paints are typically made out of soap and wax therefore they are completely safe for use on the skin and easy to remove with soap and water. Some paints can contain coconut oil so if you have a tree nut allergy it is good to do a small patch allergy test to be sure the paint will not cause an allergic reaction.
Is the paint safe for children's skin?
Yes, these paints are water-based, non-toxic, and FDA-approved. However, it's important to note that some children may have allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients in face paints, so it's a good idea to do a patch test before applying the paint to the entire face.
How long does it take to paint a face?
The time it takes to paint a face depends on the complexity of the design and the skill of the face painter. Generally, a simple design like flowers or a star can be painted in a minute, while more complex designs like full-face designs or characters may take longer. Our face painter can usually paint around 12-15 faces per hour, but this may vary depending on the intricacy of the designs and the age of the children, and the line at the event. It's best to discuss the specific design, event times, estimated number of guests, and any other requirements you have for your event with us beforehand.
Can you paint designs based on a specific theme or character?
Yes, we can create designs based on a specific theme or character. We also have a portfolio of designs to choose from, or we can create a custom design based on your preferences. It's a good idea to discuss the specific theme or character with us before your event to ensure that we have the necessary materials to create your desired designs. Some popular themes for face painting include animals, superheroes, princesses, and unicorns.
How many faces can you paint in an hour?
About 15, sometimes more if the designs are very simple.
What age range do you recommend for face painting?
The minimum age for face painting is typically 3 years old because at this age, children are better able to sit still and follow instructions, which makes it easier for the face painter to create designs. Younger children may have more sensitive skin and be more susceptible to skin irritations or allergic reactions from face paint. Additionally, Younger children may be more susceptible to passing a cold or other illness because their immune systems are still developing and may not be as strong as those of older children or adults.
Can you accommodate special needs or requests?
Yes, we hope to make face painting a pleasant experience for everyone and we will do our best to accommodate special needs or requests. It's always a good idea to discuss any special needs or requests with us beforehand to ensure that we are able to provide appropriate designs and support. For example, we are able to paint a child’s hand instead of their face if they have sensory issues or are on the autism spectrum. We can also work with children who have mobility issues or who are in a wheelchair. It's important to communicate any special needs or requests us ahead of time to ensure that the experience is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
